Tour Session FAQs
What what WHAT ARE WE DOING?
These sessions (I call them “play” sessions) can be almost anything you want them to be! Our session will be 90 minutes long, and we'll plan on doing 3-4 looks in that timeframe. These looks can be commercial, fashion, sporty, sexy, editorial, dance...whatever you want! We are NOT going for a headshot here (more in a sec). You'll bring 4-5 looks with you that make you feel incredible, and we'll choose 3-4 to shoot! Accessories like jewelry, hats, glasses, etc are a plus, but by no means are they necessary. I like to shoot fast, and when a look is done, it's done! The main thing here is that we both have fun, get to be creative, and make some pretty pictures.
WHAT AREN’T WE DOING?
Headshots! We MAY snag a headshot by chance, but it’s not a case where you come and say, “and if we could do a quick headshot in this look…”. Nope! This is meant to be fun and creative, and as you all know, headshots tend to be the opposite. That being said, WE CAN DO HEADSHOTS! If you need an update, I got you! There is an extra fee associated per headshot look, because I’m a professional headshot photographer (more on fees in a bit). If you DO want a headshot update, let’s chat!
WHERE DO WE SHOOT/ WILL WEATHER EFFECT MY SHOOT?
Most touring companies that come through stay at the Omni Hotel, downtown Indianapolis. I try to book a studio that’s somewhat close by. I know not everyone stays in company housing, but I do my best to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible. I don’t book outdoor sessions for these shoots because I schedule 3-4 people in a day, and if we get bad weather out of nowhere that throws a total wrench in the works.
IS A MAKEUP ARTIST REQUIRED/INCLUDED?
No and…no! It’s not required OR included. However, I’m betting you have an amazing H/Mu Team on the road with you that would LOVE to play and get you looking all fancy. Or maybe you’re freaking awesome at it yourself (shoot, loan yourself out to the cast for some extra monies/boozicals).
WHAT DO I (the actor) GET OUT OF IT?
1) 90 minutes of an awesome, fun, creative time in front of the camera with an experienced photographer who’s probably shot some of your friends or someone you know. 2) 1 high resolution retouch is included! 3) 90 minutes of an awesome, fun, cre…did I say that already?
DO YOU GIVE ME (the actor) ALL COPY?
No, I do not. Why not? Keep on a readin’…
I’VE SHOT WITH (insert photographer here) AND THEY GAVE ME ALL COPY…WHY DON’T YOU?
Here’s the thing…I’m a professional photographer (and actor). I’m not charging you for a photoshoot with me (more on fees below), which is probably different than when you shot with (above photographer). I used to give all my clients low rez, unedited copy from the shoot, and what inevitably ended up happening was my clients would post unedited, unfinished works that didn’t showcase me (or them) to the fullest. Some photographers are incredible at getting a 99% perfect shot in camera. Others need to retouch the crap out of their works. Some of us are in-between and have a vision for the final product of the shots we see in camera. That’s me. So I don’t give out unfinished photos. I put a lot of work into your edits to give you the most bad-ass end result possible. Here are a couple before/after examples from recent play sessions…
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
Ok, here’s the knitty gritty: It’s $150 for the session. You’re paying for the studio rental fee, plus my travel. You get 1 retouch included of your choice. Want more retouches? No problem! It’s $75 per retouch IF you get any extra (which you are under NO obligation to get). Decide that you want to get that headshot updated? It’s an extra $100 per look to do headshots, and you get another retouch for every look you decide to do as a headshot. Got a dance brush-up or understudy rehearsal pop up while you’re here? I get it, and you’ll get your session fee back (please let me know ASAP!!). Paid your session fee and all of a sudden you don’t feel well or get shy? Let me know within 72 hours and you get your fee back, or switch out with another cast member to take your spot.

Amaaaaazing! I would LOVE to play with you and the camera! Seriously, this is gonna be a blast, and a great way to break up the monotony of tour. So what’s the next step? Head on over to the contact page and send me a message. For the session you’re interested in, type TOUR or TOUR & HEADSHOTS (if you’re getting the upgrade). Then just shoot me a message saying hi and any ideas you might have (you don’t have to have any, but if you do, let me know!). Sessions are VERY limited…as in, I only have 12 slots MAXIMUM while you’re in Indy…so the sooner you respond, the sooner you get your choice of time slot, and the sooner you can secure your chance to shoot! Then I’ll respond with more details. Please note you must pay your studio fee to secure a slot. Time slots will not be secured until I receive it.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE’RE DONE?
After we have a kick-ass time being creative together, I’ll compile your PDF Proof Sheet and send it off within 24 hours and send you a Dropbox link. From there you decide which shot (or shots) you get retouched. Send me the File name (ie JSS01234) and I’ll edit it and send you a high rez copy without a watermark. USUALLY within 2-3 business days, but it can take up to a week. Want other edits down the road? I will always have your shots, and you can always order more retouches! I’ll also (eventually) go through and make my personal picks and edits, and I will ALWAYS clear an image with you before posting.
