FAQs

WHAT ARE THE SAFETY MEASURES THAT YOU ARE TAKING AT THIS TIME?

Your safety, and the safety of our staff is of utmost importance to us. We only work with Covid-compliant studios and makeup artists, although many clients are choosing to shoot outdoors as an extra measure of safety. You are allowed 1 guest to accompany you (unless you are under 18 years of age, in which case you must have a legal guardian present). Jake is FULLY VACCINATED and BOOSTED! If you are or have felt sick, have had any symptoms or have come in contact with someone confirmed positive in the last 7 days, we ask that you please stay home and reschedule your photoshoot.

WHAT IS A “LOOK”?

Looks are considered wardrobe changes or outfits. Along with the wardrobe we will change the lighting and backgrounds as well. You may add or take away one piece such as glasses or a jacket to a look without having it count as a different look.

WHERE DO WE SHOOT/ WILL WEATHER EFFECT MY SHOOT?

One of the great things about how we shoot is flexibility! See a cool wall that you want to shoot in front of? Let's do it! Want to get some dramatic lighting that shows off those abs/shoulders/gams you've been working so hard on over quarantine? Let's book a Covid-friendly studio! No clue if you want outdoor or in-studio shots? Let's chat so we can best figure out your needs. Granted, weather in Indianapolis can be a little unpredictable, and if weather doesn't allow for an outdoor session that day we will rebook your session at your earliest convenience.

IS A MAKEUP ARTIST REQUIRED?

Although using a hair/make-up artist (H/MUA) is not required, it is strongly recommended, especially for women. Even if you are skilled at doing your own makeup for daily use, doing makeup for on camera & photographs is different. I want you to focus on the acting and direction, not worrying about touch ups or hair in your face. The H/MUA stays the entire shoot to touch up, make small changes, check that hair is in place, and keep you looking your best while shooting.

Your H/MUA will talk to you about how you typically wear your hair & makeup so that we can make sure it is an accurate representation of you. You should, and will, look like the BEST version of yourself. You are welcome to use a H/MUA that you know personally and isn't connected to Jacob Smith Studios, but you must come to the shoot camera ready. Your artist is welcome to come to your shoot for touch ups and small changes!

WHAT IF I WEAR MY HAIR BOTH CURLY & STRAIGHT?

If you want to make a big hair change (like doing both strait and curly) there are a few options. Please send us photos of yourself with both hair styles so the makeup artist and I can have a visual and prepare accordingly. If using one of the studio recommended H/MUAs, depending on the hair and time, an additional fee may apply to do a complete & full hair change (rate dependent on H/MUA, and will be finalized prior to the session). If you are doing it yourself you can bring your hot tools with you to the shoot and you'll have a 20 minute window to complete the hair change. You must tell us in advance so we may schedule appropriately. In case more time is needed we can schedule a phone call to talk about other options.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY SHOOT?

Within 24 hours of our session, you will receive a Dropbox link to all of your unedited copy. Feel free to post that copy on social media, and send it to family, friends, managers or agents. When you have decided on the images you want to retouch, simply email us the name of the file and we will have a high resolution, fully retouched image back to you within 3-5 business days. Rush orders are available for an additional $50 per image, and will get sent back to you the same day.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

A $100, non-refundable deposit is required to secure your session, and the remaining balance due will be charged the day of the shoot. Cancellation fees will be due if a studio (complete fee) or H/MUA (20% of total fee) was booked.
